01 / The problem
The problem
Life insurance companies in Bangladesh (National Life, Sonali Life, Meghna Life, Best Life and Zenith Life) wanted mobile apps for the two groups they serve: policyholders, and the field agents who sell and service policies. Both apps needed secure access to policy, payment and claims data in each company's Oracle database, with each user seeing only what belongs to them.
02 / My role
My role
Backend Developer. I built the REST APIs behind both the policyholder and the agent apps for each of these companies.
03 / The solution
The solution
Laravel REST APIs connected to each company's Oracle database, serving two apps per insurer. Policyholder app: policyholders see their policies and policy details, upcoming premium payments, the premium calculator, applying for a new policy, and submitting and following claims. Agent app: agents see their business performance, policy lists, demand notices, lapsed and in-force policies, policy claims, their team and an agent summary, and handle onboarding and lead entry. Access is authenticated and limited by role, so a policyholder only sees their own policies and an agent only their own portfolio and team. Requests are validated before they reach the database. The same API structure was reused across the companies, each with its own configuration and data.
04 / The result
The result
Seven apps on Google Play run on these APIs: policyholder and agent apps for Sonali Life, Meghna Life and Best Life, and the National Life BD policyholder app, used for policy management, payments, claims and agent performance.
